Highly innovative, original and market relevant: These three key features are of particular importance when selecting the winner of the AMA Innovation Award. The development team from Endress+Hauser was thus able to persuade the professional jury with the Proline Prosonic Flow P 500 ultrasonic flowmeter.
The development team from Endress+Hauser Flow, the product center for flow measurement technology based in Reinach, Switzerland, prevailed against 27 international competitors. The four-person team consisting of Beat Kissling, Quirin Müller, Roberto Vitali and Andreas Berger developed a clamp-on ultrasonic sensor that enables non-contact flow measurements at temperatures of up to 550 degrees Celsius for the first time.
Prosonic Flow P 500 from Endress+Hauser represents a significant advance in ultrasonic clamp-on flow measurement technology. Designed for a wide range of process applications, it ensures precise measurement of liquid flows without direct contact with the medium, making it ideal for aggressive, corrosive or abrasive liquids. The device supports functional safety (SIL) and is suitable for use in hazardous areas, offering robust performance over a wide temperature and nominal size range.
Prosonic Flow P 500 has advanced software features such as FlowDC for disturbance compensation, enabling accurate measurements even under difficult installation conditions. The integrated web server provides easy access to diagnostics, configuration and device data, simplifying installation and maintenance. With Heartbeat Technology, the device provides continuous self-diagnostics and verification, enabling reliable operation and predictive maintenance.
The AMA Innovation Award is presented by the Association for Sensors and Measurement and is considered one of the most prestigious awards in the industry. It honors innovative researchers and development teams. The jury is made up of representatives from industry and science. The awards ceremony was held on 6 May 2025 as part of the Sensor+Test trade fair in Nuremberg, Germany.
