Venturi tubes and nozzles are DP flow elements that measure fluid velocity via a controlled pressure drop. Tubes feature a tapered inlet, narrow throat, and diverging outlet for high-pressure recovery and low loss, ideal for clean liquids, gases, wet gas, and CO₂. Venturi nozzles combine a nozzle’s converging section with a Venturi outlet, handling high-velocity, erosive flows like steam. More information on these elements and Endress+Hauser’s offerings can be found below.
Benefits
- Venturi Tubes
• Produces a high level of accuracy in readings
• Low maintenance and pressure loss due to no moving components of the tube
• Available in wide size ranges and is suitable for a range of different fluids and industrial applications - Venturi Nozzles
• Improved pressure recovery and reduced permanent pressure loss
• Durable design with no sharp edges meaning minimal wear and low maintenance costs
• Suitable for a large variety of pipe sizes and layouts, as well as harsh media
Venturi Tube
A Venturi tube is a DP flow element that measures fluid flow by gradually narrowing the pipe to accelerate the fluid and then expanding it to recover pressure, creating a predictable pressure drop proportional to flow rate. Venturi tubes use the Venturi effect which is the reduction of fluid pressure that results when a fluid runs through a constricted section of pipe. These meters are effective and create less pressure loss than orifice plates.
Venturi Nozzle
Venturi nozzles combine the best features of a Venturi tube, and a flow nozzle combined into a singular unit. They excel when used with erosive fluids, high velocity flow rates and/or non-viscous fluids. Similarly to the venturi tube, these meters create low pressure loss in comparison to other DP flow elements.
