Supported by the HSE, this course aims to assist Responsible Persons to meet their legal obligations with regard to maintaining an asset register and implementing a practical approach to the inspection and maintenance of equipment in explosive atmospheres utilising IEC 60079 Parts 14 and 17 and offering the basis of best practice.
Legal requirements and application of relevant standards.
Requirements of 60079-14 and 60079-17
Ignition sources and practical understanding of explosion protection principles and techniques.
Working knowledge and understanding of relevant standards in explosion protection such as IEC 60079 Parts 10-1; 10-2; 14, 17 and safe working procedures for explosive atmospheres.
Inspection and remedial action strategy.
Competency criteria and assessment for persons undertaking installation, maintenance and inspection activities.
Overview of IEC 60079-19 – repair.
