The Certified PROFINET Engineer course is accredited by PROFIBUS & PROFINET International and is designed to give in-depth knowledge of the PROFINET protocol and how to use that knowledge in the design, support and commissioning of a PROFINET network.

Content

  • The Basics of Ethernet, IEEE802.3, the ISO/OSI model, TCP, UDP, IP, ARP, Ping and the Ethernet frame.

  • Network addressing (MAC, IP, Subnet mask and sub-netting) and network infrastructure (switches, hubs, routers, gateways and forewalls).

  • Switch features for industrial applications and PROFINET.

  • Monitoring Ethernet traffic with switch port mirroring or a network tap.

  • Network topologies (inc wireless) and network diagnostics using SNMP, DCP, DHCP and LLDP. Tools for network management.

  • PROFINET installation, cables and connectors (inc cable testing) and PROFINET I/O: device types, certification requirements and conformance classes.

  • Real time (RT) communications, timing parameters and cycle times. Communication optimisation. Also isochronous real time (IRT) communications.
