Our Prodelta P averaging pitot tube provides a cost-effective differential pressure (DP) flow solution for a wide range of applications, particularly in the utility sector and for gas flows in large pipes and ducts. Due to its insertion design, this tried and trusted technology allows for simple installation, as Prodelta P can be easily inserted into pipelines without the need for depressurisation.

 

The Prodelta P is an improvement on the traditional round sensor design due to the unique profiled flats that are positioned around the downstream hole in order to define the separation point at which the flow lines break off as the fluid passes around the outer impact tube. This feature creates a stable pressure area at the downstream pressure sensing hole, enabling accurate measurement (±1%) with a wide turndown (10:1).

 

DP flow as a problem solver

Despite the technical innovations and advances in modern flow measurement techniques, differential pressure flow remains a great problem solver, adaptable to conditions that other technologies cannot cope with and ideal for those working to a tight budget.

 

For difficult process conditions or installation limitations such as pipe diameter, piping configuration or insufficient straight lengths, the Prodelta P averaging pitot tube offers the best solution. Prodelta P is simple yet robust, easily tolerating both high pressures and temperatures. Offering proven measurement to ISO, AGA and ASME standards, it has excellent repeatability and negligible pressure loss. What's more, it accommodates large pipe and duct diameters (in excess of 40”) and can even be replaced during plant operation. Our highly skilled hot-tapping capabilities mean that you can continue your process and keep your products flowing, even if its gas you're transporting!

A winning combination

Endress+Hauser's Prodelta P and Deltabar S DP transmitter work together to provide an inferential mass and volume measurement useful for utility metering, steam, hot water, air, nitrogen generation etc, where a fully specified mass or volume flow measurement can't be justified due to budget or installation limitations. Other popular installations of DP flow measurement are found in air to cooler beds, fan to boilers, drying air, purge air and natural gas letdown stations. Due to the geometry of Prodelta P, pressure losses are significantly reduced in comparison to other primary elements such as orifice plates, Venturis and flow nozzles. And, when combined with Deltabar S, the small differential pressures generated by the pitot tube are achievable, making the Prodelta P a viable option.
